What You Will Learn

As motion control advances accelerate, engineering and management staff in warehouses and distribution centers need motor and drive technologies that provide greater flexibility using less space. Embedding linear transport technologies, such as the eXtended Transport System® (XTS®) from Beckhoff Automation, directly into material handling systems and machines creates a path to dynamic sortation and singulation that eliminates bottlenecks and reduces machine footprint. New mechatronic systems offer the flexibility and scalability that modern intralogistics systems require, such as for gapping random package flow, handling small lot sizes with custom requirements and more. EtherCAT industrial Ethernet technology provides high-speed communication for linear transport, with fast cycle times and high scalability. Other emerging technologies boost performance even further, increase uptime and speed up changeovers, such as gigabit communication via EtherCAT G. This educational seminar will explore how to leverage these new technologies to boost flexibility, reduce maintenance efforts and increase overall efficiency in material handling applications.

Key Takeaways

-Learn how to increase packaging machines’ throughput and flexibility while reducing footprint 30-50%.
-Learn about important differences between the mechatronic systems to help with selection and design.
-Learn best electrical and mechanical engineering practices for implementing linear transport systems.
-Learn why EtherCAT is an optimal industrial Ethernet fieldbus for motion control.
