Summary of Innovation

In order to control and monitor intralogistics processes, Warehouse Managements Systems (WMS) are used. The use of automated guided vehicles (AGVs), semi-automated solutions and other forklift technologies require data exchange with the WMS. However, these systems do not always speak a common language. Typically, the WMS must be adapted to enable communication between these systems.

The Jungheinrich® Logistics Interface is transforming AGV integration by enabling systems integration with little to no adaptions to the existing WMS, reducing time and costs to implement. This specially developed middleware provides a direct connection between AGVs and the WMS. Installed on the vehicle radio data terminal or warehouse server, the Logistics Interface acts as a central communication hub, enabling the effective translation and communication of exchanged information. In addition, it uses a graphical user interface to provide an overview of instructions and messages to easily control information.

Innovation Statement

The Logistics Interface enables integration into existing and new system environments – without functional changes to the WMS, simplifying system communication with ease. The Jungheinrich® system can be used as a stand-alone system to operate AGVs if no WMS is available or used as a fully integrated system, reducing the time and cost of AGV implementation while also providing the ability to expand and add additional technologies for future warehouse digitalization and automation.
